STORY AND GAMEPLAY
Galaxy on Fire™ is an epic space shooter combined with a trading simulation and sci-fi RPG elements. In a huge galaxy of hundreds of planets and space stations, you take on the role of a mercenary with the Terran Armed Forces in the fight against the aggressive alien Vossk. After first demonstrating your skills doing some donkeywork, you are quickly lured to escort and combat missions. Captured goods you can use in the trading system to equip your spaceship with dozens of different weapons, shields, and drives. During the course of the story, which is accompanied by lots of dialogues and animated 3D cutscenes, you encounter shady characters over and over again, offering sometimes dubious, sometimes extremely lucrative missions. In survival mode, you must face a horde of enemy fighters and hang on as long as possible. Every enemy destroyed provides you with points and new energy, while ‘combos’ result in many more points.

NEEDS ANOTHER UPDATE + at the price I can't recommend yet. 1.1.1 Good job so far developers. I'll add a star to my rating. Keep the updates coming in a few more updates it might rank 4 ot more stars. My requests: Full Control of booster. Better lead reticle, More sensitive up and down monement. Seperate auto fire button. How about a tractor beam for some missions...? Also would like indication of closest enemy - like the one that's closest could be slightly bigger on the radar - it's easy to loose track of the ship you are closest to destroying.. Glad you are working on it - very encouraging.1.1: played it for a couple of levels and then it Crashed my phone - needing to connect ot itunes to re-activate. The new leading system does not work properly either, but at least they are trying. Better load times and no more twitching background... good, but the game is lacking in UMPH! There is no real satifying boom feeling when you destroy a ship and my previous (see below) complaints are still mostly unadressed. Put it on sale for $1.99 until it's working MUCH better. Need control of the booster so it does not get used all at once.Previous v1 review: Issues with Auto Fire + Boost + controls + Auto Fire Should be...Easy to toggle on and off - it's not - the double tap will always turn it on when you fire - please fix this (maybe another button somewhat above the fire boutton?). The boost botton is mostly not useful in dogfight because you can't use part of it - you can ONLY use it ALL up and then wait for it to regenerate.... it's a long wait.... and while it's boosting control is very difficult. I'm on the 6th level and this dogfight is very hard with NO SHIELDS - maybe he should earn a bit more for the previous missions...? As for control and boosting/shooting; take a look at the old wing commander games (prophecy is best) for some inspiration. Need the leading reticle... need to fix graphics issues and better accelerometer and touch controls. Otherwise I love it. Will update review after the update comes out. Keep working on this - once it's glitches are worked out it will be awesome.

PLEASE READ!!!! (update) the stability improvements make the cntrls like butter, the game handles so well using the tilt function. Just got car jack streets, and io, but with new update this will be the game that I end my day with, GOF still holds the title of best all around game 09 sofar.(the rest of review is from previouse update)
the touch cntrls seem just as bad as before, the only difference is that now there are little targets on the enemy to get a better firing lead on them. I should take a star or two, but as one reviewer states at least their trying. But if the problem isn't fixed soon I will be compelled to down rate this game, as cntrls are the most important element of a game, and having to figure tricks to play a game is no game. Please fix the games cntrls!!! Oh! and the buttons aren't sticky anymore so that's a plus. And in the next update make it so we return to the same quadrant instead of having to return to the galaxy map and retrace are flight path. And I don't know if it's been fixed, but when I went back to a certain quadrant to purchase a new ship it wasn't there any more, tho I had flew there twice to make sure of it's location and price before I had enough cash to buy it. And sometimes I can sell my ship and other times, or most times I can't, some time missions are dry, it will be a pirate mission with no pirates, or a space junk mission with no pirates and my employer will say something out of context, or my guy will the game is still good but the more one plays the more flaws one notices. All of which are stability/memory issues for the most part so I have high hopes that they can and will be fixed swiftly, I hope. The game is still good and worth the price, and hassel. If you are a true gamer/sci fi fan, but if you haven't updated yet you may want to wait till 1.2.0 or update through your phone's WiFi, and if you truly find it unplayble with the flip trick (for aclrmtr players only) then re- install the old version back in your device later intill 1.2. See what you cry babies did! " it's too hard" thanks alot guys, good job.

Awsome This us wicked! Ever since 1.1.1, the loading times have been reduced by 200% and it has never crashed! Some suggestions: Be able to fly down to the planet to explore it, and a story past the first 11 missions. It is not hard at all. I am playing on 100 difficulty (the highest) and I am having no trouble. Also, some more mission variety would be nice.

Simply awesome! The game is worth every penny and it's not too difficult. Just sell all your weapons and buy the meteor gun and you will beat level 8 and 9 on your first try like I did! I have over 200 games and this is the first one I truly can't put down. Minor graphical glitches and rare stutters can't mar an otherwise perfect game. Reminds me of the classic game Wing Commander. Don't hesitate...just buy it!

It's Amazing. This is a great game espcially after you beat the story/tutorial missions. Those who are complaining that it's "impossible" or "too hard" should stfu. It's a difficult game, waaah. I died twice the whole time. There's this thing you can do. It's called PRACTICE. That helps a lot. Just saying.
I give it a 9.5 out of 10. That's a buy.

Impressive! For a mere iPhone title, this one offers one of the most immersive gaming experiences I've seen. Full 3D freedom of flight using the iPhone's tilt sensing capabilities combined with intense space battles actually had me moving not only my hands, but my whole body... just like when I was a kid! (Not that it actually does anything for the game, but I defy you to play this one and *not* catch yourself doing the same thing at least once!)
There is also a trading element to the game, but it's not as refined as the system used in titles like "Big Mutha Truckers". Instead, you automatically collect debris from missions and then have the option to sell it at various hangars as cargo at varied pricing within a set maximum price range. Basically just enough info to decide if an item you have is worth enough at that particular hangar to sell. (Personally, I just go by 50% of the listed maximum to decide this...)
Overall, its a fun game, but it may drain your battery pretty quick. (About 30-45 minutes of continuous play on my iPod Touch G2...)

Good game, but.... You can tell it was ported over. All the buttons and controls are too small. The menu buttons should be bigger and easier to select. AND more importantly, the touch navigation dial should be bigger. Allow users to turn off auto-fire. It's annoying and makes the player feel like they don't have total control b/c it's always on! Why am I facing red enemies on the 3rd level of the game? It needs some balancing. You also don't need the graphic element that winds around the screen. Give the player a better sense they are in the environment. The framerate stutters. The firing cross hairs again ARE TOO SMALL. They can also show green when you are actually making contact with any enemy ship. The player has to figure out that they have to lead their fire to connect, but the firing cross hairs don't reflect that. Loading too often and for too long.Those are the negatives, but it is fun and has a lot of potential if Fishlabs will make the game more iphone friendly. It feels very similiar to the original Playstation Colony Wars combined with RPG elements.

Not entirely as advertised There are 13 missions before the game opens up. Until then it is linear, and you cannot purchase weapons at previous stations, only from the station you're at, which can make beating any one individual mission difficult. They are beatable, but some are very tough. Mission 9 has been beaten a few times. Once the game opens up and you can travel whereever you want, it's possible that only side missions remain. Many will not be able to reach this point without a difficulty level adjustment from an update. This game is somewhat misleading.

5 Stars even with the wobble People have two main complaints with this game: the wobble in the background art (like planets and other fixed bodies in space) and the difficulty. Once you get into combat the wobble isn't a distraction (your eyes will be busy looking for swarms of enemies, not staring at the nearby planet or star) and the game is hard at certain points but it's by no means impossible (easy mode is for wimps). The scope of the game is massive, the combat is fun if at times a little frantic, the graphics are great and it comes in at a light 17 megabyte download. Worth every penny.

No freedom to play The game is set up so u can only win each level the way it wants u too, I can't pass one of the first levels unless I upgrade my gun to a vulcan cannon, but I want to save my credits for a better ship. The devs need to do a whole restart on this game, fix the graphics, allow some freedom and don't make it so hard. If they do that and soon! Then it will b a good game.

Pretty good Accelerometer controls are kind of iffy and the game gets really hard too fast, you need to start with more credits or a difficulty option. But the story isn't bad and gameplay is really good, worth the money.

Great potential dogfight Excelent graphics, ambicious space dogfighter. Controls could be better. Difficulty curve too steep - first 5 levels easy and 6 too difficult and you don't have enough money to improve equipment. We should be able to receive better payment by each mission, therefore being able to buy better weapons and a force shield. This would bring more balance to the game, making it more enjoyable. I will give more stars if this points are considered in the next update. This game is not cheap. We deserve improvements.

Could be great I think this game has allot to offer but the bouncing graphics really get annoying and my ship keeps bouncing off course like it has a mind of it's own. When these bugs are fixed it will most likely be a 5 star game but right now in my opinion it is completly unplayable in it's current state.

Wow!! Cinematic Experience!!! Update: I've been all the reviews about how difficult the controls are and I have to say in all honesty the controls are hard, BUT in defense of the game, you can use the iPhone to control the game and ditch the onscreen touch controls. I've used both and I prefer using the phone tilt and accltr. controls. Don't let this stop you from buying this awesome cinematic experience. ESPECIALLY IF YOU ENJOY A GOOD DOG FIGHT!!!
It's a lot of concepts and actions that to me, is a step up from all the games I've played so far on the iPhone. (App Addict) I'm impressed. The price is steep. But the money that you pay (I think) is a bargain for what you get. The game is so futuristic, right on or past cutting-edge, with smooth cinematic feel that it could easily demand $19. Or more.
Buy it!! It's a bargain!!! This is a heart-pounding game!

Just what I needed this yet. The game is wonderful. You may yet need to adjust the controls some to your liking, but other than that it's one of the few games where I feel that the price was well justified for the money spent as in I love katamari and hotfield. Games on the appstore are headed for this type of serious handheld gaming comp level so you must yet spend your money wisely. Graphics here look to be ported but are still nice, music is slightly dissappointing due to not looping continuosly with funny sounding gaps at the end of songs. These are small quirps and don't really make or break the game. Enjoy!
