Thank you, thank you QuickBank I wrote so much good about your app that itunes timed me out so I'll be shorter this attempt. QuickBank does exactly what it says it will do. Best 99cents I every spent. QuickBank replaced my checkbook, calculator and pen in hand. If you want to try to confuse the boss with your bar and grahy charts of your company given expenses then go buy another product that rivels HR Block and crashes your iphone and syncs up to slowen. Negative amounts Nice program, easy to use. My problem with it is that you have to tell it that it's a withdrawl or an expenditure by putting a "-" in front of the amount. Oddly lacking Seems to be lacking the third element that most of these programs have, which is some sort of visual graphing of your money spent over a period of time, or for that matter, any sort of time frame or way to understand the relevance of what your expenses mean to one another. It's simply a note pad that you set catagories on, enter a price for something you bought, select the catagory, and it totals it all together. A little too simple for what I wanted, but also straight-forward if that's all you want..
However, and as of this first week of August, it's the only $1.99/.99 program with data export.
'Export' seems to be the thing many people want from these apps, although it does it by sending your data to the company's server and e-mailing you a link to retrieve your QIF file, so keep your catagory and account info vague if this sounds like a security issue to you.
What I was hoping for was an app that would show me my custom catagories as buttons, and I could click on say, "Lunch," and a numeric amount entry would appear, which I could then quickly type in "1145" and hit "Done," which the program would then automatically carry the decimal poiny over and interpret my entry as "$11.45 added to Lunch catagory today's date." I also want to be able to change the date on entries for past events that I may be entering later. Then I would like to select "lunch" and get depressed seeing how much I spent on lunch for the month, or whatever time frame I select.
It's not quite as simple as all of that yet, but it may get there. In fact, right now, it's entirely too simple, with few options. There are buttons that don't seem like they actually do anything, like the 'save' buttons in the catagory page.
I've spent the 99 cents, so I'll keep an eye on updates, but I'm not sure I can recommend it for much beyond the 'export' feature, which everyone wants to see in the other programs, so the programmer has an edge with that. very good product After using the program for awhile I really like it. I reported a bug in the program and I got a very quick responce. They fixed the bug in the last update about date exporting to Quicken. excellent website help Kudos to QuickBank for actually having a detailed and extensive user guide on their website, that clearly explains how the export works. I'm much more willing to spend money when I see the developer has put time into helping people use the app.EDIT: I've been using this as an auxiliary to Quicken, solely to catch those cash transactions where I don't have a receipt to save and enter later. Worked great on a trip cross-country for tolls and such--entry is easy and quick (even while stopped at a red light), the export worked smoothly and took only a few minutes. Importing into MacQuicken 2005, I had no problems with the date field (but I did have to open the correct account in Quicken first to import the QIF, so not sure how exporting/importing multiple accounts would have worked, as I only had one account). I did not test out categories yet. U can't make this any easier... I like it so far. It's really easy to use. It would be even better if it had a section to type comments and a way to put in monthly automatic transactions too. Very nice This is the second review i give about this product. i first gave it a 3-star one because even though it was a great app, it still had some improvement to be made. after a lot of customers and I made the request of having some features updated/installed, the vendor actually listened and reacted (of course they had to add another $0.99 to the original price of the app which is well deserved by the way). it says a lot about the company. Thanks for listening and caring about your customers. My last request though will be to see the "payee" field remember the previous enteries instead of typing the same recurrences over and over. Other than that. Can't export to new Quicken It looked like a great app. Finally something that could interface with my Quicken. But it exports (via the webserver) to a QIF format that newer versions of Quicken dont support (I'm running Quicken 2006 and it doesnt work for me). Straightforward with useful Extras This app keeps getting better. I liked it before the latest update, now I love it and had to give it 5 stars. I've never been a person who uses a checkbook register, but this app makes it easy to start. I love the new export of QIF files over wifi so you can get backups all at once. If you haven't updated to this version yet, I suggest you do because the update cleared the memory. I also love that it shows the balance on the home screen now. Customizable categories and a clear, easy to use interface are what make it easy. There are little gripes, like the debit/credit choice blanking out if you don't fill in a name and amount at the same time, but once you are used to it, it's not a problem. Great Account Tracking App I recently got an iPod Touch and was looking for an app to replace my Palm OS BankBook. This does the job perfectly and for less than half the price of what I originally paid for BankBook. I like the password protection, as those without iPhones or ITouch's tend to rummage through various apps not really knowing what they are. I would ask for a few more features. In the Accounts main page I would like to see a quick balance summary of all my accounts all at once. And within each account I would like the total amount in that account to be highlighted in green or red depending on the financial situation. The entry field is a little wonky with the debit and credit button, something a little clearer like "withdrawl (+)" or "deposit(-)" would be better. Export Problems - but help is on the way... I reported after I bought this app that the year in the date field ended up in Quicken as 1908, not 2008. I also shot tech support an email, and had a very quick response. I'm told a fix is on the way, so I'm changing my rating from 1star to 3 stars - just for the great support. Recommended (using it for travel expenses) Nice little application that keeps improving with small updates. I have been using it to keep track of travel expenses, rather than bank or credit card accounts, and it worked rather well. Maybe the developers could keep in mind this application when adding features, to attract users who might be looking for an "expenses" application.I have several suggestions for improvement. (1) Currently, it is not possible to edit the name of a category, so if you mistyped, your only solution is to delete the category, create another one, then manually change the category in each and every transaction of that category. (2) Show the bottom line of each account in the ACCOUNTS screen, and the grand total of the accounts as well. (3) Export to Excel or CSV format rather than just Quicken. Great program only a couple of things missing... I'm very pleased with the overall operation of this app. I can easily and quickly add expenses (breakfast, lunch, etc); then go back later if I need to add any additional information. The report is cool because it can show you by percentage where you're spending your money. The ability to add custom categories is crucial to have it tailored to each individual user and this app provides that! The only problem is the reporting feature is missing a daily, weekly, and monthly report. To the author: Please add these spending reports, it would be awesome to see what I spend on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, that way I know what I need to cut back on and when some expenses get out of control (ie a trend, maybe towards the middle of the week I spend more or at the end of the month. November update raises the bar! I had only two issues with the QuickBank and the November 08 update solved both. I can now transfer $ between accounts and the program maintains a list of frequent payees for autofill. Now I am a happy camper with no excuse not to track all my transactions.
To the Reviewer with the App update problem- the publishers aren't managing your updates; your beef is with iTunes. If you don't see INSTALLED next to every app you own, iTunes has forgotten you and you'll need to pretend to re-purchase it to get iTunes to recall your purchase. You won't get double charged. This happens occasionally and it's not fair to knock the developer for an Apple problem. If you restore your iPhone, iTunes is likely to temporarily forget ALL your purchases, until you remind it. I have not restored since 2.1, but that was the story then.

I'd appreciate the ability to set up some common payees so I don't need to enter them each time, and would also like to be able to set a budget for each category and see how I'm doing.
