Great single-purpose app I've used this app daily since the new year. As a resolution, I wanted to keep better track of my some of my common expenses (eating out, gas, entertainment, etc.) For these purposes, Spend is a perfect, light-weight companion. I can easily track expenses and with rolling budget and contain unnecessary spending. If used consistently, like I have, one can save nickels and dimes which add up over time. This app is NOT for balancing checking accounts, paying bills and trending income, but it is a light, fast, easy-to-use tool to control discretionary spending. This is probably one of the better investments I've made.

Nice, but could use some work I really like this app. It's very simple, and it's very easy to use. The only problem I have is in the budget settings. If you set a budget to $100/month, but the next cycle you want to set it to $50/month, you can't. It does the math for the budget of last month like you only had $50 then, also. With the rollover feature, that makes for a big headache. Other than that, I use it everyday, and I like it very much. Thanks

decent application for simple expense management I wanted an application that I could input my current expenditures, and in a fly, see how much I had left in my budget. It works just like that, it's very simple, clear, and useful. Don't expect anything more of the application, I didn't as it's all I wanted. There is a bug in that when you go to enter a new quantity, there is already a preset 0.00 there, that has to be erased. I wish it were blank, or better yet, if entering quantities used the scrolling slot machine entry method used in programs like the timer and such. Almost there... For simple budgeting this program works well. However, I have discovered a bug. If you have more budgeting categories than fit on the screen and have to scroll you can never get to the last item. The only way to make changes to that item is to edit the list order and move it up in the list. You can then edit or add transactions to the item. However you will have to repeat this next time you want to edit or add transactions to the last item in the list. - Spend - Budgeting review by xxpansion

Simple yet effective The app works great for simple budget tracking. The developer has two updates that Apple has not yet published that fix and add to the functionality of the program. A Great, Simple App This app does exactly what it promises to do, and does it well.If you're looking to quickly and easily watch your spending (as broken into different categories), this app is for you. This app *will not* balance your entire checkbook, as it is not intended to. There are other more complicated and convoluted apps out there already doing that.There *are* a couple of small tweaks that would be nice, such as removing the default amount of 0.00 being filled in that I have to erase each time to replace with my own. Really handy! I've had this app for a week now, and I got to put it to use this past week while shopping for household items and groceries. I was able to input each item without a problem while walking through the stores, and after adding each item I could see immediately how much I had available in my budget. Before I had this app, I usually had to estimate, and unfortunately most of the time I wound up seriously overspending or underbuying (so I wouldn't go over budget). I'm happy to say that after using this, I wound up staying within my budget and it is one of my "must-have" apps! This is best used for expenses that may vary all the time.I do have a few suggestions for the developer, some of which may have already been mentioned:1. Remove the default "0.00" and leave it blank. This will help any shopper save time with the inputing.2. Make categories editible. If it is editible, it is not clear how to do it- and I played with the app for awhile. I wind up deleting the categories and having to re-input them. 4. Make it so that one can change the date of the transaction, rather than the date when the item was inputed.5. Make it so that the cycle can be bi-weekly, or from a certain date period. This will help those like me who get paid every other Friday. I also know people who work for the state who get paid only once every 2 months (bi-monthly).6. It would be really neat to have an option for Tax where the user can input their local sales tax percentage.I think once these issues are resolved, the app will be perfect. It's a great app that's simple to use, and it really does help with budgeting.For me personally, I wind up using the "SPEND" App with the "ZENBE LIST" App (makes lists for shopping items and anything else) and then with the "BUDGET" App, which helps me with my overall budget for income, fixed, and variable expenses. - Spend - Budgeting review by Elaine's ITunes

Very Basic (Original review below)I am updating my review to say that the two issues I had problems (see below) with have been corrected promptly and I am really happy with the app now. However, I just ran into something that I am really not crazy about (I just got the app) hence the 3 starts - when you enter an expense it forces you to save it to today's date. The problem is that I will enter expenses today from the previous couple days, so this field loses meaning for me. I would want to be able to enter whatever date within the budget cycle (not future) that I want.I also have to mention what so many others have mentioned, since it seems to basic and a bit annoying: the default 0.00 in the amount fields that you have delete (or clumsily edit) in order to enter your amount. Incredibly well suited for my needs I use quicken to plan my categorized spending for the month. Unfortunately i'm unable to keep track of what I spend when it counts the most (when I'm on the road). What I do is set my categorized spending budgets on quicken and then manually track it with Spend. Awesome combination. Now with the upgrade it's 10 times more usable.

Great App I love this app. It is simple to use, easy to read and helps me bring my most important budgeting forecasts with me mobiley. It'd be great if you could edit a budget amount without having to delete the category entirely (maybe you can and I'm just not doing it right - any suggestions would be welcome). It Works For Me At first the app downloaded and was crashing all the time by just opening it. Spend Support was prompt to assist and now I'm a happy camper.
