Searchbar?   Like it has been said, there is no searchbar function. Would be a five star app if you could search through it

Shameless Self-Promotion   Because of the varied reviews, I decided to download and try this free app. What I found aside from an app that doesn't include search, was:* No recommended "best of class purchase recommendations"; generic articles which contain links show you the CR web site with a clear indication that you must subscribe to retrieve specific information* Internal web browser that links to the CR web site which has not been adapted to include a mobile-phone (iPhone) CSS style sheet so that everything appears very tiny and you must pinch-up the page and pan around it to read anythingSorry, but this app just doesn't do it. If CR wants to promote subscriptions to their web site, then let them come out with a full-featured app that addresses the problems above (and others that different reviewers are reporting) and make it free but useless unless the user subscribes to their web site. Why play games? If some other company did this very same thing with an app and CR reviewed the app, they'd pan the heck out of it for these very reasons.Deleted this app.

Of course CR is a pay service   Everyone knows CR is a pay service. Not a good reason to give 2 stars. App is OK. Needs search.

NA   Not really useful. No ACTUAL review information, more of an advert to subscribe and this app has no mechanism to actually obtain review data even if you are a subscriber. You get what you pay for here.

App Gives Consumer Reports a Bad Image   CR is a great magazine produced by a fantastic organization, although you wouldn't know it by using this app. No ratings or search feature? It's not only useless, it's insulting to the user. So much is wrong about this app, I almost didn't bother to write a review.

Why no access to actual CR ratings?   I'm not clear what the real value is of having this app. I don't really need to watch general videos on my iphone -- I'd much rather have a way to access actual Consumer Reports ratings and content. That way if I'm out shopping for something, I can look up the ratings for it. This would be a great benefit for CR subscribers, and a big incentive for non-subscribers to sign up.

Disappointing   Grew up reading my Dad's monthly issues. I'm an online subscriber. Very weak app. Expected much more from CR. At a minimum needs search.

Ratings must be included   I've been a CR subscriber for years. This app completely misunderstands my needs. I don't want to read random blog entries. I want to stand in a store and see the product ratings presented in an iPhone-appropriate format. I'm happy to pay my subscription fees for both print and online, because the info is reliable. But CR has to get its head around how the 21st century works. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by Dr. Andrei Smyslov
Garbage   As with everything CU does, this is a teaser. They give you some of the text of articles that have been published. Then, when you click on the link to see product or service reviews, you're taken to a page where they hityou up for a membership. This c**p is getting really old with iTunes and the App Store in general. If these "free" apps require a "fee", then tell prospective users. Don'twaste my time. I know, I know, CU accepts no advertising so "technically",this isn't a fee, it's a subscription. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by hamiltonrrwatch
No more going to the library for the magazine - and it's FREE .   I would have though this was going to be a mini version of the magazine (which is expensive and I would go to the library when I needed it). It's not only full-featured, It's more than just a rehash of the current issue. Well layed out also. I'd like to see where it could be improved as I have not found anywhere yet. Cheers from sunny Key West! Alan Chiras. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by Alan Chiras
Recall this App   As a magazine subscriber and an online member I am extremely disappointed. I was hoping for an app that I could use to browse ratings while shopping...no such luck.
All this app does is let you browse recent online articles, and even then just resirects you to the actual webpage, which is painful on the iPhone. The categories are not very specific and you cannot search.
At a minimum this app needs to be redesigned to at least direct you to a mobile version of the webpage. At least that would be usable.
Ideally they need to allow you to logon to your account from the app, integrate a search feature, let you save favorites, and provide easy access to product ratings. Until that is done, this app will only damage the credibility of a great organization like Consumer Reports. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by L.B. Beurmann
Lame   This app is really lame; it's basically just a viewer for CR's blogs...that's why the iPhone comes with Internet and Safari built in, so you don't need applications like this. CR needs to get with the program, and provide what people really want...mobile access to all CR reviews and access to premium content for CR subscribers. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by keithpk
it's a start, but disapointing   While the content you get with this is more convenient than trying to use the CR site on your phone (since CR doesn't have a mobile site), the lack of a search feature renders this app to only being useful when you're sitting around bored and want to peruse the latest reviews. A search feature would make this app a five star application since we'd then would be able to conveniently check product ratings while in the store standing in front of products we were considering. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by msmith9835
Not working   I have had this app for two days now and so far it is not working. When I launch this app it keeps saying updating forever! What is the deal? Does it have to do with the fact that I am overseas and not in the US?? - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by Desert Cowboy
This is great!   It does just as advertised. It is very similar to an RSS feed type app. I would give it 5 stars if it had a search function to look for specific items. It does not have the full CR article, but when you get to the Internet site, they give a nice synopsis. They can't give you the whole article or no one would buy the magazine or Internet subscription anymore! C'mon, it's free and it's actually something you can keep using, unlike the other dozens of apps I've taken off my phone. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by RHIT2002
A True Rarity   This little sucker froze my iPhone hard enough to require a two button reset and restart. Hey, Consumer Reports, gonna review your own product?I'll try again after an update... - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by pdxjim
Scam alert   Of all companies. This is nothing but an advertisment to get another subscription. CR should be ashamed. - News & Video from Consumer Reports review by bacres
