Perfect! This is NOT a replacement for the regular contact list app. You use it to create, update, and delete contact groups (not actual contacts) so you don't have to use Outlook or Address Book on your computer. It does this perfectly; I had no problems on my 3G running 2.2.
Update: the latest app update fixed some display bugs - thanks! I do wish it were still free, though.

Nice App, Does The Job Yes, it crashes like crazy but it does do exactly what I want it to do (in between crashes). Other than the obvious crash fixes, I would recommend a UI change to make adding/selecting a Client to work just like the iPhone's iPod "On-The-Go" Playlist just for consistency as it would aid in usability.

Very useful much needed. I don’t understand why people are not giving proper review of the app. The app delivers what it says. I have so many contacts on my phone. With this app, I have already arranged all my contacts under different categories like – Office, friends, family etc etc. Once installed and contacts arranged in groups, when we check contacts on phone we get the option to go to groups and selecting the group gives you all the contacts in that particular group and then the desired contact can be called / texted etc.This is a much needed, a very useful app. And it’s free. Full 5 stars from me

Must-have for contact management! This app provides a missing link in contact management on the iPhone, letting you create and manage Groups of contacts (Family, friends, clients, suppliers, co-workers, Christmas cards, etc.) And, most importantly, the created Groups appear within, and are fullt supported by Apple's native Contacts application, which lacks this important contact management feature.
Using the Group App is as simple as 1) launching the program, then 2) defining a new group by hitting [+] and typing the new group name, then 3) opening that group for editing and 4) scrolling down through the contact list that appears to 5) tap and check off the members you want to add.
When you quit this app, the new groups should appear under the Groups tab in Apple's Contacts program. Previously you had to manage all this on the desktop Mac... if you had one handy!
Now here's the only problem I have found: contacts that have Company name only, which amount to about a third of my contacts, appear as blanks, so I can't identify them and add them. If this were corrected, by displaying Company when first & last names are both blank, this app would work for all my contacts.
4 stars for free and almost perfect!

Stable on my iphone 3G. I like this app, it makes it easy to assign groups on my iphone, but it still lacks in what my Palm 755P Treo was able to do as follows:1) Does not have the ability to assign group ringtones to the groups you create, and 2) when you add a name to a group, it should take it off the list so that you don't accidentally add the same name to another group...or at the very least, let you know that a certain contact has been added to a certain group already.By the way I had a Blackberry Bold as well and that was not easy to do the above either, you needed to use a 3rd party app costing $20.

Great idea, but... When I add contacts the App crashes and I need to keep reopening it. Other than that it creates groups and puts them in your contacts section which is cool. If u can fix the crash bug and also allow for sorting by first name when creating groups this App will rock even more.

Not what I expected Yes app groups contacts but then what. I thought once I created the group I could send group a text - not a feature. Even worse when sending text I pick a group, the contacts list but you can't send any on the list a text. You have to search under the all contacts to send a text so what's point of app?

I wanted to recommend this, but it crashes and is not free now I got this app free. This app would be worth the 99 cents they are charging now and the best grouping app, if it didn't crash while adding contacts. It works for me because I didn't have to pay for it, but if I had to recommend a contact grouping app now to my friends, it wouldn't be this one. There is another one for the same price that doesn't crash (Contact Grouper), but I think it doesn't show contact details (an un-necessary feature of iGroup, but nice). Fix the crashing?

Crashes too much! It closes automatically right in the middle of selecting contacts. When you scroll down your contact list don't scroll TOO FAST or it will lock up or shut down without saving the contacts you've selected. Completely locked up my iPhone once. The only way I was able to unlock it was to connect it to iTunes and sync it. Worth paying $0.99 for another app that doesn't crash so much. If you are just looking for a free grouping app that shuts down all the time than this is the one for you.

Good Idea, but... Crashed my Phone twice...!!! Closes voluntarely, while adding contacts to the group...!The idea is good, but very unstable! Any application which freezes my iPhone is out - I uninstalled it right away.

Why? I can't quite figure out what I would need this for. It doesn't really let me manage contact groups at all. I can move someone from group a to group b, but that is it.
Funny thing is, I am far less likely to suddenly need to chane someone's contact group on the phone than to dial them. And I can't do that here. Changes are automatically synced to the phone when a change is made or during a sync session in iTunes.
So why? Fortunately it was free to buy. Deleting it costs me twice as much.

Useful Needs more explaination/instructions to avoid the frustration JCart experienced (thanks memobug). It's a pretty simple app but the current version crashes frequently so only 3 stars.

What's the Purpose? I downloaded this app because I thought It would help me sort out all the people in my contacts list. Well it did! The problem is that this is all that it does. I now have several catagories of people with their names in it, IT DOES'NT DO ANYTHING ELSE!! There is no ability to see information about the person - no ability to edit contact info or Phone # - can't dial from it. NOTHING! Just a list of Names under a heading of Co-Workers, or Customers, or friends, or whatever. Great, if you don't know who the person is - but then why would you put them in your contacts to begin with??
