Won't give me local news When I put my zip code in, it give me news from an area that I don't live (Fort Wayne, Indiana). I'm in Michigan. Please fix it Mobile News Network. Other than that it's a great news app.

Great App Someone else wrote that the screenshot preview of this app was "depressing", and gave it 1 star. That prompted me to write this review and give it 5 stars. If you like reading the AP's news stories, this app makes it fast and easy to do. It deserves a fair rating based on what matters -- it does what it says it does and works well.

Terrific, clean interface to current AP articles Before the App Store opened I was using the web version of the Mobile News Network, and it was a model iPhone-optimized web site. This new native version of the application is even better, providing a highly navigable interface to lots of articles in a variety of categories, including picking up local news specific to your home town, and providing great photos to go with the articles. I would like to see a little more customizability in a couple areas. Most notably in the Sports section, scrolling through the various subsections (Baseball, Football, etc.) is tedious. I would really like to be able to rearrange the order of the subsections, because there's a half-dozen clicks between the main Sports and the College Sports subsection, and 3-4 of them are sports I really don't care about. Wonderful App, just a few suggestions... This is a well implemented news reader, I use it daily and have only a few complaints...I'd like to be able to leave the app (to take a call, play some music, or whatever), and keep reading where I left off when I come back. Right now it goes back to the default screen and I have to find the article I was reading all over again.Second, I'd like to see an indication of when new stories are being loaded, and when the story listing is up to date--instead of just staring at the screen for a while waiting to see if any new stories pop up.That's about it! Favorite Information App Love this thing! Seriously, the MNN and Google Maps are reason enough to own an iPhone. If you don't have this thing front and center on your desktop, you're wrong! Nice app! It's great to be able to view all your local and national news in one place whenever you want! Simple to use, and not as overdone as some of the apps I've seen. Intuitive, Easy and Just Cool! Late Breaking News at your fingertips...this is what mobile news was MEANT to look and feel like...and oddly, it has the "iPod" layout found on the iPhone/iTouch...so looking for different "news sections" shouldn't be too hard. Does not update!!!!! Chances are when you click on this app you want the latest news. Unfortunately, after playing with it for a a couple of weeks, the news stories do not update reliably. You have no indication as to when and if they are updating, and constantly are left with yesterday's news. The people giving this five stars have probably not been using it for more than a couple of days. You can manually update the stories but this involves clicking on settings, and then update, which quickly becomes a nuisance. - AP Mobile review by ulmelqlo

Almost the best ...... But!!! Fantastic app but
1. Should be able to put in cities instead of zipcodes.... Googling xipcodes isn't fun.
2. Just for aesthetics,,, loooove the hat icon on my iphone but the AP needs to be twice as large.You can't see it.

I work for the Media! I'll endorse it! I work for the media and I sure as heck use it.Pros:1.) Clean interface.2.) Nice constant flow of updates.3.) AP is a generally trusted news source for me.4.) Simple, precise, selectable genres. (Ex: I don't have to weed out entertainment news from economic news.)Never really had a con yet... it crashed several times on one occasion, but like with all crashes - there was either an update ready for it or I reinstalled it and all was back to normal.If you see a person in NY who seems to be staking out a location (with a camera crew) while intently staring at his iPhone... Use to Be Good, Now Terrible. This app USE to be a great App, until the most recent version. It's slow (when it does load), and it now has a status bar, which wastes screen space, and the worst new thing about it, is that it now has AD's. Luckily I had updated this on my phone, and tried it before I synched with my Mac, so I just deleted it from my phone, and re-synched to get back the good, no-AD version. - AP Mobile review by Ryan-H

Ok, but local broken for zipcodes starting with a zero Nice application but "local" is broken if you use a zip code that starts with a zero.. the application removes the leading zero preventing it from finding your proper zip code for local news.. otherwise its a nice application.. Ironically the web version does not have the leading zero zip code bug .. so if you have problems with local zip codes try with safari to get local news. - AP Mobile review by EricG2k8
