Get Pandora Tried this and thought it was great until all the commercials and the song doesn't even resume after you close the app, it just starts the next song... Sigh, Pandora is best still.

Slacker vs. SiriusXm, Pandora, Last.FM Slacker vs. SiriusXm:I have been a SiriusXm subscriber for the past year and am canceling my subscription because not only does slacker replicate the Satellite radio experience, it improves upon it. The programmed stations are tremendous both in content and number (as good or better than SiriusXm programming), you can fast forward through tracks you don't like, and there are no DJs. If you have an iphone and an aux input cable, get slacker and save yourself $14 a month. Slacker vs. Pandora/Last.FMIf you're into creating your own stations Pandora or Last.FM might be a better option for you, though slacker is no slouch in this arena. However, if you want professionally programed stations Slacker is THE way to go. The audio quality is tremendous, better than either service. The UI is better than both, and as a young program will presumably get even better.Pros:- Great selection of well programmed stations.- Beautiful, feature rich UI.- Great audio quality.- Ability to "fine tune" stations with options like music currency and popularity.Cons:- Not as good at creating user stations.Conclusion:If Slacker catches on, it will put Satellite radio out of business. If you're looking for a traditional radio experience without the DJs and without the constant commercials, Slacker is for you (yes there are occasional commercials, but they are short and non-obtrusive). I would like to see controls for creating your own stations added to the app, something that will presumably come with time. If Apple were to let Slacker (or the other music streaming apps for that matter) run in the background, that would turn it into not only one of the best apps, but the elusive "Killer App". Words cannot express how awesome this app is First of all, whats better then free music? Nothing. In addition to Slacker offering you free music it also has pre-programed stations. Industry pros put their blood sweat and tears into creating the best stations for Slacker listeners giving us the flexibility to create our own stations or listen to a huge range of Slackers genre and seasonal stations (even some comedy). I love the "sneak peak" feature which lets you peak around the corner to the next song. And for only $4/month you get even more awesome features and no advertising. The First KILLER Radio App!!! Not only does the Slacker app set the bar, but it changes things completely. Some things it does a lot better than Pandora / Last.FM-Greatly improved audio Quality-The ability to control all aspects of your music *You control the artists, create a custom station *You control artists discovery, play a ton of new artists or none at all (or everything in the middle) *You control the style, play the hits, play the fringe, play them all or everything in between *You control the decade, play new stuff, play old stuff etc...On slight negative is that you have to be VERY careful with your custom station. If you playlists are shallow or you hear a lot of repeats and don't want to add more bands turn off some of the customization. I have no doubt it'll get better and better.The UI is GREAT to use. I like peeking at the next song, very smooth very cool and very fun to use.The limitations: 45 seconds of commercials per hour, and you can only skip 6 songs in the same amount of time. For $4 a month you can go premium, WORTH EVERY PENNY. Even if you don't the app is free, goto slacker.com, crate an account, create a custom station, you will NOT be disappointed. Best Free Music App I played around with this app for about 45 minutes from the house to work and it holds the connection better than any other music app.Better then Pandora and Lastfm.Excellent sound quality.More options to finetune stations with hits,fringe current,etc options.Navigation of controls is a little different than other music apps but I like them.One commercial every 6 songs or so. AMAZING! I was liking Pandora radio but this one takes the cake! I decided to look for a radio app that had all of my favorite types of music(rock, hip hop ect.) and I didn't know I'd find a free one! I mean I was pretty doubtful at first but then I read these reviews and they did not lie! I deleted my pandoria radio right after I opened this application! THIS IS THE ONE!!!! Great Music - Great Interface - Awesome Features! I've listened to a bunch of the other free music apps. But this is the one. It's got the programing that Last FM and Pandora does not have and the additional information like Artist Bios and Album Reviews that Pandora only wishes it has. It breaks out of the expected iPod like interface Pandora went with including a dynamic next album preview and skip feature. Really slick to just slide the album art over to skip a track. Hearting and Banning a track is consistent with the slacker.com functionality. Now I only wish it cached on the iphone like their Blackberry app. For now it's streaming only. The Best Radio Makes The Best App! I couldn't be happier with this app. I have been a Slacker listener for a while now. I used to listen to Pandora but Slacker has WAY more music and a lot more features. I've only been using the Slacker App for a day, but so far it seems like everything I love about Slacker radio is part of the app. Tons of free music, slick interface, great sound quality and the ability to listen to all my custom stations or their pre-made stations.I took my iPhone to work and listened to Slacker in the car and my office without interruption. All reason for satellite radio is gone Between this and the multitude of apps available on the iPhone for Internet Radio, there is no reason to pay $13 a month for watered down FM without commercials. If you dislike ads, and the low skip limit on the free service you can subscribe to slacker plus ($3.99 a month, or $47 a year) to get rid of all that. As well as unlimited requests. The killer app here is to make your own custom stations with artists and bands you want to hear, whereas you would have to pull teeth to get a song played on XM or Sirius, you can easily request songs, ban songs you don't like and favor songs you do. The web app also lets you ban artists as well as songs, something Slacker's own G2 portable does not allow. Don't even Bother Don't even bother with this app, just go download Pandora. It's free as well, and it'll let you skip as many songs as you want (unlike this app). Pandora also lets you rate songs and create a station based on a band you like, rather than going by genre as this app does. Good, but.... Good, but I'm going to stick with pandora for now. Slacker's UI on this app blows Pandora 's away, however Slacker has 2 major problems:
1) If I'm driving (which is when I use these apps the most) and I hear a song I like, I need the ability to bookmark that song so I can buy it later. I can't buy the song as I'm driving. Pandora makes it very simple to bookmark a song, however Slacker doesn't have his ability at all.
2) I usually don't want to listen to just one station at a time. Pandora has a quick mix option which randomly plays all of my stations. This is a must have.

Great app! Better than Pandora. Needs thumbnails for custom stations and the songs need to start playing where they left off when you open the app. If you close the app mid-song now it starts playing the next song when you open it back up. Other than that this is a great app. I love the Slacker service, much more than Pandora, and this app doesn't disappoint. Who needs an iPod now? Slacker is my new best friend (well, when it comes to music). I've been a big fan of their web player for about a year and now that I can get it on my iPhone - it's even better. The player lets you pick a genre of music, skip songs, see the next song on the playlist and you can mark songs as favorites (heart) or ban them from ever being heard again. Great sound, choice, and discovery Over edge and 3g, I'm getting the same amazing slacker service I am used to on the web and on my slacker portable device, (which I guess I don't need anymore). I have personal stations set up on the slacker website that showed up on the iPhone app as soon as I logged in. The app also gives you info about the artist and album, and it learns about your music preferences by letting you ban or love songs.
Sound quality, even over edge, is really impressive and the app has yet to crash. This is a great pandora alternative with a lot of extra bells and whistles.
